(This has come up in email, so I looked that up at home in my old program last week to make sure.) But Broten did set a tourney record for 4 assists in one period in the first game of the 1978 tournament. (I was there!) Those were the days of the famous "Roseau Line" of Neal Broten, Aaron Broten, and Butsy Erickson (neighbor two doors down the street-- would have been much more poetic if it was next door) who all went on to play for the Gophers in 1980-81, [obligatory college hockey content] ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ and later all spent several years in the NHL. (Ironically, Aaron was one of the original New Jersey Devils when the team moved from Colorado and for several years thereafter. Butsy was with LA and Winnipeg.) But I don't think the Roseau Rams (enrollment about 300) had much depth beyond that line, so they wore down awful quick in the Thursday-Friday-Saturday tournament play against the Edinas and Grand Rapids and the like. -Pam Sweeney Go Gophers!!!
