This is the way I understand the higher education set up in Michigan: The University of Michigan is a three campus system, with Ann Arbor being the main campus and the one almost everyone refers to. The other campuses are Flint and Dearborn (pretty good club team). The rest of the state-sponsored schools are independent from each other. Michigan State has various research sites throughout the state, but Ferris State, Lake Superior State, and Saginaw Valley State only share the "state" name in being partially funded by the state (as is Michigan). Other public schools include Northern Michigan, Michigan Tech, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, and Eastern Michigan. There really isn't a system that I know of outside the UM campus system. --- Robb Dunn |GO BEARS!
