This is interesting to me. I am almost pretty positive that Air Force
almost never signs 2 year deals with other schools (meaning the home and
the return next year on the road).

I hope Charlie Shub can back me on this, but Air Force is pretty popular
as a road contest because of the fact that:

a) Since they are away from the Eastern schools they pprovide a chance
to get "away" from campus for awhile to give the guys a respite from
the rigors of being in a 200 mile radius of other schools and areas,
therefore its popularity.

b) With the locked in schedules of a lot of WCHA and CCHA teams, being an
independent provides Air Force with a chance at playing teams at home
on their "own terms", meaning come out here and play us, we don't have
to return the favor. Since they are independent, then it is the only
real possibility of "escaping" from the East Coast for a lot of schools.
The only other alternatives are Army and ...........

c) I hope Charlie can really back me here in saying that this is a trend
with a lot of schools. I think Air Force sees a lot of schools at the
Cadet Ice Arena, and are rarely on the road the following year to play
the same teams. While it may not be the case sometimes, rarely do I
remember Air Force playing home and homes with Eastern schools.
The only one I remember recently was UMass-Lowell.
For this reasoning I think that RPI will not be hosting Air Force for 2
games in the upcoming season, though it is highly possible since they
will be at Union this season.
