For those who are interested, this year's Wisconsin hockey program has this to say about Bill Howard: Bill Howard, 23rd year, Colorado College A veteran of all five UW NCAA titles, Bill Howard has been a key to the Badgers' continued success in goal. During his tenure at the UW, Howard has helped develop All-Americans Julian Baretta (1977), Roy Schultz (1980) and recent Badger goaltending standouts Mike Richter (New York Rangers) and Curtis Joseph (St. Louis Blues). Before joining the UW staff, the 50-year old Howard coached hockey at madison Madison Memorial for 10 years. His Spartan teams won two state titles and posted a 136-72-1 (.653) mark. During the off-season, Howard is actively involved in summer hockey camps and seminars, including an intensive goaltending school in St. Louis. He also serves as color commentator on Wisconsin hockey broadcasts for WIBA radio. He teaches high school classes (business law) on a full-time basis at Madison Memorial. Originally from Grand Forks, N.D., Bill and his wife, Bonnie, have two sons, Troy, a member of the UW hockey team, and Casey.
