I do agree that there is a market in all of these areas for college
hockey. St. Johns had a divIII team that folded due to lack of$$ (Gee
that's not a common problem:). Georgetown does have a Hockey team. they
are an ACHA Div II team that plays in the Mason Dixon Conference. Having
played at the ACHA Div I & II level I can tell you that there is a huge
differnce. The Div. I programs are more like NC$$ teams that are lacking
only one thing--> $$$ from the athletic department. Granted ACHA Div I
teams could not be competitive with NC$$ Div I teams, but we are
competative with the Div. III [(Upper) Penn State lost to Mercyhurst
while they were ranked #1 in overtime)] and to show you the parity in the
ACHA Towson State (GO TIGERS!!!!) was tied by Penn State with :42 left in
the third period for a 4-4 tie. Towson State did not even make the
Nationals :( In continuing, yes the market is there, but the Money is
not. Oh yeah and we can't forget about that stupid title IX.
