I think some of us may be confusing "Coach of the Year" with
"Worst Prediction of the Year by So-Called Experts."  The disparity
between pre-season polls and a team's finish is a function of more
than just the coach.  I think we ought to look a little deeper
when considering COTY nominees (though the results may end up
the same, I admit).  I consider, for instance, the apparent talent
on the team based on what I've seen, discipline with which the
team plays, ability to win close games, ability to win "big" games,
etc.  For the ECAC, I like Coach Gaudet from Brown.  As has been
mentioned, he seems to get the most from his team and manages to
thoroughly frustrate opponents at times.  Outside the ECAC, I
immediately think of Sean Walsh, who seems to excel in all of the
above categories.
     But, what do I know?
