UMD beat Northern 8-1 tonight, in a fairly meaningless game. The only thing it affected was UMD finishing in 7th or 8th. Although, at least we don't have to go to Denver, and we get to stay closer to home. UMD just totally outplayed NMU the whole way. No question who was going to win this one. Now if they can keep it up in the playoffs, we'll be in good shape. Potential opponents for the playoffs: Minnesota. UMD was swept by the Gophers this year, losing in October at the DECC 5-4 and 6-2 and then down at Mariucci in February 3-0 and 4-1. I don't like the prospect of UM for that, but these are great rivals, and anything can happen in any game (or 3 game series). Wisconsin. UMD went 1-2-1 against Wisconsin, including only the second UMD home game not at the DECC since the arena opened. The Dogs lost the first game of the season 6-5 at the DECC, took 3 of 4 points in Madison 3 weeks later 2-2 and 4-3, and then losing the 'home' game at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee 6-3. I guess I would like to see the Dogs play these guys more than the Gophs, but either way it's tough. Tony --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anthony J.
