As long as we're discussing bashing officials...

Last Friday's SLU-RPI game was officiated by Cole & Taylor who were
reported to usually be HE officials. As was posted earlier, the game
featured a remarkable dearth of penalities - a set of matching minors
in the first period and then no more penalties until 2:++ to go in the
game. I thought I was going to see my first power-playless game, but
SLU got a man advantage at 19:42 of the third - after scoring an
empty net goal to decide the contest.

It was a great game to watch - lots of up and down skating and long
stretches of continuous action. Not many opportunities for the
tension to be released as the third period wound down in a 2-1 game.

After the game Greg Lapinski (SLU radio announcer who has never been
shy about criticizing the officiating) gave the Player of the Game
nod to SLU goalie Clint Owen AND the officiating crew.

While we shouldn't necessarily equate no whistles with a good
officiating job, I think that the viewing quality of this game (from
a fan's perspective) was enhanced by the job done by the officials.
