I'm a little surprised to not have seen anything about this yet, but, the 1980 US Olympic hockey team will be taking on the Boston Bruins alumni at Northeastern's Matthews Arena in Boston, Sunday afternoon at 2 pm. I believe this is going to be the first time the team has reunited in 15 years. It was 15 years ago Wednesday (Feb. 22, 1980, then a Friday) that Team USA upset Team USSR in the medal round, 4-3. This morning, several of the team members were interviewed on WEEI-850 radio in Boston. It was quite interesting and brought back a lot of memories. According to the Boston Globe, the following team members will be there Sunday: Herb Brooks, Steve Christoff, Ralph Cox, Jim Craig, Mike Eruzione, John Harrington, Steve Janaszak, Mark Johnson, Rob McClanahan, Ken Morrow, Jack O'Callahan, Buzz Schneider, Dave Silk, Eric Strobel, Bob Suter, Phil Verchota, Mark Wells. Wells will be an assistant coach due to injury. Unable to attend are Neal Broten, Dave Christian, Craig Patrick, Mark Pavelich, and Mike Ramsey. Cox was one of the last two players cut (the other being Jack Hughes of Harvard and Somerville, MA), but he will still play with the team Sunday. There is a nice piece in the Globe today in which Eruzione says that Cox and Hughes were as much a part of the team as the guys who were there at the end. Eruzione and Craig now serve as assistant coaches for Hockey East teams, Eruzione with alma mater BU and Craig with Northeastern. Silk was a graduate assistant with BU last season. I wasn't able to find any ticket information, but if someone does know, I would appreciate seeing it. --- --- Mike Machnik [log in to unmask] Cabletron Systems, Inc. *HMM* 11/13/93
