MICHIGAN CLINCHES FIRST PLACE AND AUTOMATIC NCAA BID
FOUR TEAMS WITHIN ONE POINT BETWEEN SECOND AND FIFTH
ANN ARBOR -- Michigan clinched first place in the CCHA and an automatic bid in
the NCAA Tournament with victories over Bowling Green and Michigan State. Lake
Superior swept Illinois @ Chicago, while Ferris State split with Ohio State.
Western Michigan lost to Michigan State and tied Bowling Green. In non-
conference action, Miami split with Alaska Fairbanks. Michigan, Bowling Green,
Miami, Michigan State, and Lake Superior have clinched home ice for the first
round of the CCHA Playoffs.
Michigan will entertain Ferris State on Friday night, while the Wolverines
travel to Notre Dame for a 7:30 game on Saturday. The Fighting Irish visit
Michigan State on Friday, while the Spartans travel to Ferris State on
Saturday. Lake Superior will play host to Western Michigan both nights, with
Illinois @ Chicago visiting Miami for two games. Bowling Green will host Ohio
State on Friday night, and play the Buckeyes Sunday afternoon (1:00) at the
Columbus Fairgrounds. CCHA affiliate UAF is idle this week.
