Tonight's Gopher team came out well, but a flurry of penalties in the late part of the first period that resulted in 2 Denver pp goals cost Minnesota the game.. Minnesota seemed to have taken a quick 1-0 lead on a goal by Brian Bonin, the junior from White Bear Lake, MN with 44 points.. but the goal was knocked off at exactly the same time as the puck was shot in, by a Denver player.. the ref signalled no goal and play continued.. the turning point was on a penalty called on Minnesota's Scott Bell late in the first.. After a save, DU goalie Wallenheimo came out of the net and began his usual crap display and ran into Bell.. Wallenheimo then fell down.. lots of shoving occurred, and Bell received a penalty for knocking down Wallenheimo.. on the powerplay Denver scored.. I'm not saying the Gophers would have won, but these two instances in the game created a 2 goal swing.. WCHA: 1. CC 2. Minn and Denver 3. Wisc Ryan Bowman Sophomore University of Minnesota
