In a game where I'd be happy no matter who won, Clarkson defeated Union tonight in Potsdam by a score of 4-2. The game was decided on special teams. Clarkson's power play went 3-for-5, 2 of those coming in the third period. The game was tied at 1 after two. Union came out and took a quick 2-1 lead, but took a few penalties which proved to be their downfall. Clarkson's Claude Morin scored what proved to be the game-winner, just after Union killed off the first of a 5-on-3 disadvantage. Union seemed to control the game for the most part throughout the 2nd half of the first and the first half of the second periods. Clarkson's powerful power play took over when Union took penalties when they shouldn't have. A big thumbs-up to Trevor Koenig. The Union freshman stopped about 31 or 32 shots. Many of those were huge scrambles in front of the net. Clarkson hosts RPI tomorrow while Union travels all the way to Canton to visit St. Lawrence.
