In the past, I have occasionally posted segments of the Northeastern
notes from the HE release to give a sample of the creative writing
style of NU SID Bill Doherty. The 01/09/95 HE release contains yet
another brilliant piece of work by Billy, presented below for your
edification.

Billy is the same SID who lists his own special nicknames for the
Huskie players on his linesheet - names which in the past have
included Matt "Colonel" Saunders, Mike "Bud" Veisor, Dave "Gautama"
Buda, and the classic Peter "Raise Your Hand If You're" Schure.

NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY
Northeastern badly needed to unswoon after three straight defeats in
1994, and apparently they had resolved to make 1995 a fulcrum for an
assault on Maine, BU and UNH in the Association's upper tier. The
Huskies snapped their longest losing streak (three games) of the
season at the critical start of the season's second half. Marquee
players led the way, as J.F. "Love, Honor And" Aube (2-2--4), Jordon
Shields, Dan Lupo and resuscitated blueliner Francois Bouchard
(1-1--2) stamped the Huskies' winning signature in front of the home
crowd at Matthews Arena. The victory represented a monkey off head
coach Ben Smith's back as the Gloucester, Mass. native was able to
post his first coaching win over the River Hawks of U Mass Lowell.
Junior dufflebag Mike Veisor was as solid as he's been all year,
making several larcenous stops in the final two minutes (and 21 on the
night) to help NU stave off a furious Lowell blitzkrieg at the end of
the third period. Bouchard shook off much of his injury-laden rust
with a fine two-point effort against UML while Shields continues his
campaign for All-Hockey East and All-America honors with his 31 points
which places him among the top ten scorers nationally.
