Carol RIVER RATS ROOKIE MIKE DUNHAM EAARNS AHL SHER-WOOD PLAYER OF THE WEEK WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA: Albany River Rats' goaltender Mike Dunham was outstanding last week as he stopped 53 of a possible 56 shots and led Albany to three victories, erning him Sher-Wood Player of the Week honors for the week ending January 8, 1995. In recognition of Mikes accomplishments, Sher-Wood will donate $500 in sticks and a case of InGlasCo pucks to a local youth hockey organization in the Albany area. On Wendesday night at Cornwall, the rookie turned aside 22 shots leading the River Rats to a 5-1 victory and extended his unbeaten streak on the road to eight games. Friday night at home, Dunham shut down the Springfield Falcons ppower play enroute to a 4-2 victory. Mike capped off the week Saturday night earning his first professional shutout by blanking the Atlantic Division leading PEI Senators 1-0. For the week, Dunham went 3-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA while extending his personal unbeaten streak to 11 games (8-0-3). The former All-American from Johnson City, NY was a member of the NCAA Champion Maine Black Bears and the 1994 U.S. Olympic team. This season he is currently 11-2-6 with a 2.30 GAA and a 0.919 save percentage. Finishing second in this week's voting was Cape Breton's Peter White who tallied four goals and five assists in five games.
