The ECAC may be beginning its annual separation into two divisions, as the
standings now find the top five teams separated by four points and the
bottom seven separated by four points. Usually, what happens at about this
point of the season is that the top teams and bottom teams start heading in
opposite directions very quickly; this could have started happening already,
except that none of the top five teams got more than two points on the
weekend, keeping the standings fairly close.

The always-quirky ECAC schedule has produced two teams that have already
begun their stretch runs. Both Dartmouth and Vermont had only four ECAC
games in the season's first two months (including two against each other),
and as a result, the Big Green and the Catamounts get little rest over the
remainder of the season, as they have two ECAC games each weekend the rest
of the way. Union also has an all-ECAC remainder of their schedule, but at
least the Dutchmen get a bit of a break, playing only one game next weekend
and one the weekend after that.
