BROWN 2 - 0 - 2 --- 4
CLARKSON 3 - 2 - 2 --- 7

Brown brought a tough and speedy team into Potsdam tonight,
but frankly they were completely befuddled by the Clarkson Golden
Knights.
Dave Seitz opened the scoring for Clarkson just a couple of
minutes into the first period when he surprised the Bears by
coming off the bench on a line change just in time to grab a pass
and skate it in for the score. Shortly thereafter, Marko Tuomainen
blasted a shot off of the Brown goaltender's (Parsons, I think)
shoulder but the puck flipped over the startled netminder and
proceeded to flutter into the net like a falling leaf in autumn.
Clarkson was dominating the period but Brown managed two quick
goals (the first by Jardine), the second of which goalie Dan Murphy
should have stopped. However, before the period ended Todd White
gave the lead back to Clarkson when he skated across the front of
the net alone and planted a low shot into the corner of the cage.
There was no scoring through most of the second period, though
Brown had to kill a couple of penalties including a 5 minute major
for elbowing (against Humber - add a "t" and he could be a famous
Nabokov character :-)). However, in the last two minutes of the period
Claude Morin blasted in a pretty one-timer on a three-on-one to make
it 4-2, and soon afterward Steve Palmer put on a one man show from
end to end before finally one-handing a shot which somehow trickled
through and into the net. Clarkson goalie Dan Murphy picked up
the assist on this one, which ended the period at 5-2 Clarkson.
Defenseman Adam Wiesel scored early in the third to make it
6-2. With less than 5 minutes to go Clarkson got a bit lackluster,
taking two unnecessary penalties. Brown tallied on the two-man
advantage, and added another (Jardine's second of the game) with
two minutes to go. However, with the Brown net empty in favor of
an extra attacker, Clarkson players were flying around the gaping
cage with the puck in almost comical fashion before Patrice Robitaille
was finally able to stuff the rubber in to close out the scoring.
Tomorrow night Clarkson faces Harvard at Cheel, while Brown travels
to St. Lawrence. I'm looking forward to seeing Steve Martins play
again.
At last notice both RPI (vs. Colgate) and Harvard (vs. St. Lawrence)
were losing late in their games. It could be a big weekend for the
Golden Knights.

Thanks,
