Unlike Mike, I don't know 'jack' about hockey so take my comments with a grain of salt. Other than Steve McBride, I don't usually notice officials. I noticed them against Air Force. Now knowing they are normally linesmen makes a lot of sense to me. They just didn't have the 'vision thing' going. They didn't seem to see the whole ice very well. The matching penalties thing is now well known. Mike and I have mutual dislike of Matt Adams' proclivity to 'dive'. It seems he take a couple every game. I rarely see a HE official go for it. The only time he did it this weekend he got the call. (What goes around comes around: He was later slashed above the glove. I was sitting behind the bench and I'll tell you the poor chap was in pain! :-) Mike didn't mention their confusion around the net. There were a couple of REAL quick whistles around the net. If the AF goalie hadn't had a mask on his jaw would have smacked the ice a couple of times. He caught a couple of slappers with no one within 20 feet of him and proceeded to quickly drop the puck behind the net for his D. TWEET. Face-off. One of the AF goals happened in slo-mo for the officials. Thibeault was on his butt and the officials didn't see the puck so they blew the whistle. I think everyone in the house saw the puck--it was dribbling along the goal line. The goal judge flips on the red light, I SWEAR, 3-4 seconds after the whistle. THEN they're all heading out to the red line for a face-off and I'm thinking "Who's running the show?" Bad experiment if you ask me. cheers, rand -- Rand P.
