Notes from the 1/16/95 HE weekly release... BOSTON COLLEGE goalie Greg Taylor earned a share of the Len Ceglarski MVP Award which is given to the standout player in the BC-Maine series. Past winners include Scott Pellerin of Maine and BC's Scott LaGrand. Don Chase notched his first career hat trick in the 7-5 win over Yale. BOSTON UNIVERSITY fired 108 shots in a pair of weekend games against Merrimack and Northeastern. BU has been the "other" team in both record setting save performances by HE goalies this season. UMass-Amherst's Dave Kiduff recorded 50 saves in a 7-0 BU win earlier this year, and last Friday, Merrimack's Eric Thibeault broke that with 54 saves in Merrimack's 3-2 win. BU is averaging more goals per game than anyone in HE, 5.40 HE and 5.81 overall. MAINE has allowed opponents fewer than 25 shots on goal in 18 of its 25 games. 8 players have reached the 20-point plateau. The Black Bears' power play still ranks first in HE, 33.3% overall (tied with UMass-Lowell) and 30.2% overall. UMASS-AMHERST goalie Brian Regan picked up the first assist by a Minuteman goalie this year in the 6-3 loss to UNH. UMASS-LOWELL's Greg Bullock collected his 100th career point in his 59th career game in the 11-3 win over Yale, the fastest any Lowell player has done that since the team moved to DivI in 1983. Goalie Craig Lindsay recorded his first career shutout with 30 saves in the 9-0 win over Merrimack. UML tied a HE record with 6 PPGs in the same game. MERRIMACK's 3-2 win at BU was its first ever win on the road vs the Terriers and only its 3rd win in 37 meetings against BU. It was the fewest goals scored against the Warriors by BU in those 37 games. NEW HAMPSHIRE bounced back from deficits of 3-0, 4-1, and 5-3 to defeat Northeastern in OT, 6-5, with Eric Boguniecki scoring the winner with just 28 seconds left in the extra session. G Trent Cavicchi survived a rough first period to make 27 saves and post the win. Eric Flinton added two goals. The Wildcats have the best penalty killing in Hockey East, 84.2% in the league and 87.5% overall. NORTHEASTERN goalie Mike Veisor is out with a strained MCL, status unknown. 5 different Huskies scored in the 6-5 loss at UNH. PROVIDENCE's Chad Quenneville boosted his career totals to 65-76--141 in the weekend series loss to Clarkson. He ranks 14th on the Friars' all-time list. George Breen recorded his first career hat trick in the 7-6 loss to Clarkson, his 8th, 9th, and 10th goals of the year. HOCKEY EAST VS...
