There is *no* way to compare the Beanpot to any other college hockey tournament. There is no other city in the country with four DivI teams that all play each in a tournament. Most tournaments have the crowd cheering for only one team, be it Wisconsin in the Badger Showdown, Minnesota in the Mariucci Classic, RPI or Maine in their tournaments, etc. Even the GLI still invites one team every year (to be able to keep the I for 'Invitational' in GLI). Only the Beanpot has an even number of fans for each school cheering for their team and fans for three schools cheering against BU :-) There is also no other tournament that has a week between the first round games and the championship game. The week between the first round and championship makes the Beanpot for than just a college hockey tournament. The week between games is somewhat like the week before the Super Bowl, except both teams are from the same city. The Beanpot also gives the winner bragging rights for the next year as "the best team in Boston". Sean Pickett Go BU Terriers, 1994 Hockey East Champions! [log in to unmask]
