I am sort of interested in seeing what people think of the rinks, arenas, fieldhouses, forums, and centers that Div I teams play in. I am a little more interested in how people would rank these facilities within their conference. I have been to all the ECAC and most of the HE facilities, so I will offer my opinion on the ECAC sites. I am basing my rankings on a few things. 1)Appearance 2)Access 3)Sight Lines 4)Crowds 5)Atmosphere 6)Seating (size of seats, type and so on) 7)Food In the ECAC here goes: 1) Gutterson Fieldhouse, Vermont Mainly because of atmosphere, crowds, and sight lines 2) Cheel Arena, Clarkson Excellent sight lines, atmosphere, and right in the student center 3) Thompson Arena, Dartmouth Beautiful sight lines, beautifual arena, just no people 4) Appleton Arena, St. Lawrence Rustic, and nice looking. Crowd is very appreciative. 5) Bright Hockey Center, Harvard Good sight lines, atmosphere is great. Seating is a minus though. 6) RPI Fieldhouse, RPI Not many bad seats, atmosphere tends to go with flow of game. 7) Lynah Rink, Cornell Atmosphere is great. Pricing expensive. Seating needs work. 8) Hobey Baker Rink, Princeton Lots of people say stone and steel. I love the atrium of the walkway. 9) Meehan Auditorium, Brown Great sight lines. Atmosphere is lacking. 10)Ingalls Rink, Yale Intereting architecture. Like being at sea. 11)Starr Rink, Colgate Cold, damp, and dismal 12) Achilles Rink, Union A firetrap. No where to walk, sound system is awful. Crowd is good. Just my opinion. ***************************************************************************** * Jayson Moy RPI '89 '93 * One of the Voices of Rensselaer Engineer * * [log in to unmask] * Hockey, Baseball, Football, and Basketball * * The "Asian Invasion" * on Crystal Clear 91.5FM WRPI, Troy *EASM* * *****************************************************************************
