From this morning's Milwakee Sentinel. There is also an
article in Badger Plus Section detailing the Badgers and
their chances in the tournament. Also speaks of W Jamie
Spencer playing in net at practice.

About LSSU: Record 5-6-3 overall; 4-5-1 in CCHA. The Lakers
are the defending NCAA Champs, but without Coach Jackson,
LW Bates Battaglia, and G John Grahame, who are at the World
Juniors. Lake State is riding a 2-game winning streak. Brian
Felsner's 17 points (9-8-17) top the roster. Soph G Sean
Kulick has won 2 straight to go 3-2-1.

About Northeastern: Record 8-5-3 overall; 4-5-3 in HE. In the
tournament for the first time, and having played for an average
2,432 fans this season, may find the Bradley Center din to be
intimidating. The game against LSSU tonight is a reamtch of
last season's NCAA Semifinal, when LSSU came back from 4-3 and
5-4 deficits to win 6-5 in OT. G Mike Velsior, whose position
coach is 1980 Olympic star Jim Craig, is 6-1-2. Jordon Shields
        is 10-19-29 pts.

About Wisconsin: Record 8-8-1 overall; 8-6-1 in WCHA. Badgers
could be in danger of not winning their own tourney for only
2nd time in 6 years it has been played. UW has won only one
of last six and will be withour number 4 scorer Dan Tompkins,
who is also at World Juniors. RW Max Williams is the top scorer
(10-12-22). Penalty situations will be key. Opponents are
outperforming on power plays 19.6% to 13.3%.

About BGSU: Record 11-5-0 overall; 9-3-0 in CCHA. G Will
        Clarke's 6-0 record and C Brian Holzinger's 15-18-33 are
tops in the tourney. BGSU boasts 9 players with 13 or more
points thus far and a gaudy 29.3% power-play efficiency. The
Falcons have lost 2 of last 3, but won 5 straight before that.

About me: I'll be sitting in Section 418 (upstairs, in the
corner), Row V, somewhere in seats 7-10, wearing my UW team
warmup. My son will have his UW home jersey (#5) and my
wife will be wearing her UW Hockey sweatshirt and hopefully,
the hockey-stick earrings I gave her for Christmas. If you
get a chance, stop by and say hi.

        GO BADGERS!
