BU goes into their December break with another very good game. Despite the
lopsided score Dartmouth came to play and they played a good game. BU lead
2-0 after one period, but a two week plus layoff hurt Dartmouth in the
second as BU increased the lead to 5-1 after two. Dartmouth thought they
scored early in the second but the puck went off the inside of the post and
back into the crease, where Tom Noble covered it up.

The third was all BU as Dartmouth played poorly early and BU increased the
lead to 7-1 at the 5:50 mark. Darmouth head coach Roger Demment pulled
starting goalie Ben Heller and put in Darik Buchar, a freshman from Hibbing,
Minnesota. The Big Green revived slightly as the scored their second goal
of the game shortly after, but BU responded almost immediately to make it
8-2. BU added to more goals in a short span and Roger Demment replaced
Darik Buchar with sophmore Scott Baker with about 9 minutes to play. It was
Scott's first appearance in a game this year and played well, stopping
several good BU chances.

The game of musical gaolies was completed when Jack Parker replaced Tom
Noble with Shawn Ferullo with about 7 minutes left to play. Dartmouth
played much better the rest of the game and Shawn made several saves on
excellent chances as the Big Green pressured to get a few more goals. Tom
Noble continues to play well and improve with every game and Shawn Ferullo
was tested tonight and was equal to the task. The good news is that Derek
will likely be able to play at the Mariucci Classic (or at least backup Tom
Noble), but if not Shawn Ferullo has gotten some valuable playing time and
has faced some good quality shots.

Jon Coleman was cleared to play tonight after receiving a concussion against
Vermont on Wednesday. He played a good game and appears to have recovered
fully. Kaj Linna was ill so Ken Rausch took his place on defense tonight.
Ken did not make any great plays like Kaj usually does, but he was up to the
challenge and acquitted him well.

Dartmouth played well and looked like a team that could be in the hunt for a
top four finish in the ECAC. They are 3-1-1 in the ECAC (3-3-1 overall) and
play 10 of their remaining 18 league games at home. Their biggest weakness
looks to be goaltending as they have allowed 30 goals in the last four
games. If it improves I think they will be in every game the rest of the way.

Mike Grier, Shawn Bates, and Chris Kelleher players will miss the Mariucci
Classic as they will be playing for the USA in Red Deer at the World Junior
Championships.

BU goes into their break with a 9-3-3 record (5-0-1 home, 3-2-2 away, 1-1
neutral)
They have scored 21 goals in the past two games and only given up 3.
Overall BU has scored 91 goals and given up 50. Their best period is the
third, as they have outscored their opponenets 35 to 16. With the win BU
has tied up the ECAC-HE inter-conference record at 12-12. BU has 5 of
Hockey East's wins as they are a perfect 5-0 against the ECAC.
