The largest crowd ever to see a game at the Whale (3486) may
have seen the best game ever played at the Whale tonight as Yale came
back from two goals down to beat Harvard 3-2.

Capacity at the Whale is 2908, but fortunately the fire
marshall was away on business. This improbable Yale team, which had
trouble beating Mt. Allison, has now started the regular season with
two straight wins over nationally ranked opposition.

Yale was in the hole 1-0 in the middle of the second when a
shot by Doug Sproule from the corner bounced off the back of Todd
Sullivan's pads to double Harvard's lead. Four minutes later, Jason
Cipolla won a face-off, beat his man and deked Tripp Tracy to get Yale
on the board. Early in the third, Chris Barbanti tied it when he took
a pretty feeed in front from Brendan Doyle. The next twelve minutes
was some of the best hockey I've ever seen from Yale as we kept
mounting the pressure, and Tracy kept it out of the net. Finally, with
three minutes left, Dan Nyberg lofted a shot from the blue line that
wafted through a screen and floated nicely over Tracy's shoulder. That
goal marked Yale's first win against the Crimson since the 1990-91
season.

Yale tries to keep the undefeated season alive tomorrow at
7:00 pm against Brown.
