The CCHA championship weekend was changed due to a decrease in the number of CCHA teams, from 11 to 10. With affiliate Alaska Fairbanks also participating in the postseason, the old format included all 12 teams in 6 first round series. The 6 winners advanced to JLA with the top 2 seeds getting a "quarterfinal" bye. This season, 11 teams [10+UAF] will compete in the playoffs. UAF will play the #10 team in a single game elimination. Then, there will be 5 first round [best-of-3] series. The 5 winners will be re-seeded and #4 will play #5 in a single game elimination. That winner will join the top 3 seeds at JLA for a standard "phinal phour". There will be no consolation game, just 2 semifinals and a final. John Haeussler Univ of Michigan
