US College Hockey telecasts will be distributed outside North America
this season: PRIME Network has launched PRIME International to
to distribute PRIME programming outside the US. Someone from
New Zealand reported on the USENET newsgroup rec.video.satellite
that he is able to receive PRIME International in New Zealand
from the recently-launched PanAmSat 2 satellite at 169 degrees EAST
longitude above the equator.

PRIME Network and PRIME International are now owned by Tele-Communications,
Inc. (TCI), the largest cable TV operator in the US. The newly-launched
PRIME International is supposed to compete head-to-head with
ESPN-International (80% owned by Capital Cities-ABC and 20% owned by
Hearst Broadcasting) which has been operating in Latin America
and Asia for several years.
