The College Hockey Discussion List Poll for October 26, 1994: Teams were given 15 points for a first-place vote, 14 for a second-place vote, and so on down to 1 point for a fifteenth-place vote. Total first- place votes are in parentheses. BU maintains its hold on the #1 spot, but defending champ Lake Superior, thanks to a one-point weekend, slides eight places to #10. Michigan State takes over the runner-up spot. Other teams making big moves on the week are Colorado College (up three spots to #4 after a split at Michigan) and Ver- mont (up six places after wins over New Hampshire and Providence). Wiscon- sin and Bowling Green, absent from the preseason poll, make their presence known this week at #11 and #15, respectively. By the way, Wisconsin's absence from the top 15 in the preseason marks the first time in the almost-three-year history of the HOCKEY-L poll that the Badgers were not one of the ranked teams. Michigan and Lake Superior are now the only two teams that have been ranked in every HOCKEY-L poll. Administrative note: I received mail from a couple voters who were having trouble reaching the "oldal" address. If you are getting reject messages when sending mail to oldal, please let me know; you can send mail to [log in to unmask] (that's W-C-F-ONE, not L), which should work. One of the problems apparently was that Cornell is no longer a Bitnet node, and some other sites were not aware of that. Anyway, hopefully no one else is having any problems with oldal. The Spartans finish behind Minnesota among Westerners. The West, however, was more forgiving of Lake Superior, as the Lakers got more points from six Western voters than they did from the nine Easterners. Eastern responses: Western responses: 1.
