Former Minnesota Gopher Chris McAlpine is apparently surprising officials in the New Jersey Devils organization with his strong pre-season play. Originally slated to play with the Albany River Rats his performance during the pre-season has led to the strong possibility that he will stick with the parent club. According to a blurb in this morning's T-U Devils officials believe McAlpine plays better with NHL players than AHL players, and a stay in the minors may not be warranted. Last night's NHL exhibition at the Knick also included former Maine and Olympic team member Mike Dunham, whose appearances last year with the River Rats were described as "disappointing". He looks to spend a full year with the River Rats this upcoming season. _ "NYS // Hockey" Go 'Gate // Brian Morris Go RPI // Albany, NY ______// [log in to unmask] (______/
