Two items from Charley Walters' column in today's (7/1/94) St. Paul Pioneer
press:

Add former North Star Dean Talafous' name to the list of prospects who could be
offered an assistant's job by Gophers hockey coach Doug Woog as a replacement
for Mark Mazzoleni, who last week left to become head coach at Miami of Ohio.
Talafous is head coach at Wisconsin-River Falls and a former Gophers assistant.

That was former Gopher, Olympian, and Buffalo Sabre Dave Snuggerud of Hopkins
seen huddling with International Hocey League Minnesota Moose coach Frank
Serratore and player personnel director Glen Sonmor at noon Thursday at
Gallivan's. The word in Detroit is that the IHL teeam there, the Vipers, has
offered Snuggerud, 28, a nice contract for the coming season. You can bet the
Moose will make him a better offer. Snuggerud, 28, is the caliber of player the
Moose need for credibility.

{end quoted stuff, begin Pam's comments}
Carol'd know more about this than I, but I thought Snuggy quit hockey because he
didn't want to play in the minors and really wanted to finish his elementary
education degree. If so, this doesn't quite figure.
Of course, Serratore is the former Denver coach, and Glen Sonmor is the former
Gopher coach (and color commentator!).
