I am neither on the BC side nor the Milbury side here, but I am getting tired of hearing Milbury complaining about things and giving everyone the impression that Gladchuk did him wrong, all while never saying anything about what exactly it was that got him so upset. After reading the Madden article about the scholarships, I had to think the situation wasn't Gladchuk's fault, although if he misled Milbury about the true nature of the problem, then that is something Milbury has a right to be upset about. But it did not sound as if Gladchuk had a direct involvement in the situation getting as bad as it did, and in fact his making a coaching change seems to indicate that he was trying to do something about it. The key thing is, we don't know just WHAT has made Milbury upset. He's gone on to say things like he won't let his kids go to BC and he wants them to "go where they tell the truth", but then he doesn't say why he feels that way about BC. He should either tell the truth himself and back up his accusations, or keep his mouth shut. In addition, I am wondering why any organization anywhere would want to hire Milbury when this makes the second job in two months that he has left and taken parting shots at the people he left behind. When he announced his decision to leave the Bruins and take the BC job, he responded to a question about why he left the Bruins by saying something along the lines of being tired of having to deal with players who made unreasonable demands. Anyone who might hire Milbury has to know that at some point he will leave, either voluntarily or not, and if in voluntary termination he takes shots like these, imagine what he might say if he is fired. I liked Milbury very much as a coach and even in the front office; and, I have always appreciated his candor which tends to be very rare. He's probably one of the better interviews in Boston and in hockey because of that (I have never spoken to him, only seen/heard him second hand through the media). But along with candor should go good judgment, and this is a time for that - and for him to keep quiet and refuse further comment on the situation, unless he is going to back up the negative things he's saying about Gladchuk. --- --- Mike Machnik [log in to unmask] Cabletron Systems, Inc. *HMM* 11/13/93 <<<<< Color Voice of the Merrimack Warriors (station TBA for 94-95) >>>>>
