Since this really doesn't concern hockey, I'll keep this to a one time response. NC$$ lacrosse is HUGE down here in Maryland every spring. Just like hockey is big in the north and northeast every winter and baseball in the south every spring, all eyes focus on lacrosse and basketball in the mid-atlantic every spring. Although it seems like Syracuse or Hopkins wins the title every year, Hopkins hasn't won in 8-10 years, I think. And Syracuse has only become a powerhouse in the past ten years. Here is a list of the Div I lacrosse schools that I know of. If I missed any, I apologize, but I certainly didn't miss any of the top schools. BTW, North Carolina won in '93, and Princeton in '92. Johns Hopkins (Baltimore), Loyola (Baltimore), Towson State (Baltimore), Maryland-Baltimore County (Baltimore), Navy (Annapolis), Maryland (College Park), Virginia, North Carolina, Duke, NC State, Clemson, Princeton, Harvard, Syracuse, Michigan State, Air Force, Ohio State, Penn, Cornell, Hofstra (went Div I this past year) Some of the other Ivys might also have Div I teams. Every other Maryland school has a Div III program, with Saulisbury State being the premiere program in the country, now that Hofstra has moved to Div I. RPI also has a Div III program. I don't know if there is a lacrosse listserver yet, but if anyone knows of one, please let me know. Please write me directly if you want to talk about this further. Dave / RPI '91 LET'S GO RED!!
