Typos are mine. =================================================================== CCHA PRESS RELEASE For immediate release--May 12, 1994 UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA FAIRBANKS ADMITTED AS FULL MEMBER INTO CCHA ANN ARBOR--Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Council (consisting of the athletic director and faculty representative from each member institution) approved today the University of Alaska Fairbanks' application for full membership into the CCHA effective with the 1995-96 season. The Nanooks have been an affiliate of the CCHA the past two years and will be an affiliate for the 1994-95 campaign. The affiliate status has guaranteed UAF the opportunity to participate in the CCHA playoffs. Alaska Fairbanks' entry into the CCHA will give the league 11 full members commencing with the 1995-96 season. ... ... UAF Associate Athletic Director Kip Harmon said "today is the greatest day in UAF athletics history. .... Today, UAF hockey has been elevated to the highest level...full conference membership." .... The 1995-96 CCHA regular season schedule will see five teams travelling to UAF for a three-game weekend series, while the five remaining teams will each host UAF three times during the year. The Nanooks will be playing 15-home and 15-away conference games, while five teams will be playing 14-home and 16-away (including three at UAF) games, with the remaining five teams playing 16-home (including three vs. UAF) and 14-away contests. Each team will travel to UAF every other year, and host the Nanooks on the years they do not travel to Fairbanks. The 1996 CCHA playoff format will have the top four regular season teams hosting the fifth through eighth place teams, in the CCHA quarter-finals.
