Norm Foster played at Michigan State, and was a strong backup from 1983-87 behind Bob Essensa. Essensa and Foster are 1-2 in MSU's single-season GAA list, Essensa posting a 1.64 in 1984-85, Foster 2.63 that same season. The next year, the Spartans won the whole darn thing. Norm was an Oilers' draftee, spent lots of time in Cape Breton, and (I think) was loaned to the Maine Mariners (Bruins' old affiliate, now the Providence Bruins). Former Spartan Pat Murray (brother of current Spartan Rem) played for Hershey for a time, and also saw action with the big club, but I don't know where he ended up. GS
