Well, I thought I'd put my 2 cents in about the west regional: 1. I don't think the disputed Northeatern goal was in. My seats were right near the goal, and I don't think it crossed the line. It didn't look like it did when I saw the shot on the news after the game, either, although they didn't have a great angle. I can't speak for the other two disputed goals, although a UML fan I met said Roloson said it was in. The grapevine isn't a good source, I know, but I thought I'd pass it along. I really have no clue about Sunday's disputed goal. 2. Sunday was a bad choice for the games. A lot of people had to be to work on Monday. It was unavoidable because of the boys' basketball tournament, but I understand why a lot of people left. I did. I had to drive back to Kentucky after the LSSU game yesterday, and I only got three hours of sleep last night. Driving to Sault Ste. Marie wouldn't have been a picnic, either. The road between East Lansing and the Soo--a ride I've taken many times, being a Spartan from Sault Ste. Marie--is long, boring, and empty. Plus, the weather was acting up. So I'm not surprised not many people were at the UMinn-UML game. 3. Roloson is the first good goalie I've ever seen who lived up to his reputation. The man could perform the miracle of the loaves and the fishes if hockey were religion. 4. I had an odd idea which, I suppose, shows my biases: why not have a regional in Sault Ste. Marie? Before you laugh too hard, let me explain: they're renovating the arena, the casino is tres chic, there are plenty of hotels, and there is an airport. Sure, it's in the middle of nowhere, but isn't it easier for your average college hockey fan to get to than Anaheim? 5. About the new arena: I don't know if anyone's mentioned this before--I don't always read my mail very carefully, but my mom repeated a rumor that the tribe ws considering rescinding their funding. Apparently, they did this because they have to donate to the community in order to have gambling and someone ruled that building the Lakers a new arena is giving to too limited of a group. Anyone have further info? 6. Sorry, Eric, I don't think Lacher looked that bad in the first game. He was just really unlucky, and not as good as usual, but I wouldn't say he looked horrible. 7. I think all of the teams in the West Regional played very well. I got to watch three excellent games, so I walked away happy, even though MSU lost. I assume the fourth game was good, too, since it went into double overtime--I would have loved to be there! Anyway, congratulations to all six teams. I think everyone played great.
