For those that want to hear the end of this one: U-M's BERENSON PLEADS GUILTY by Maryanne George, Detroit Free Press, Saturday, March 19, 1994 Michigan hockey coach Red Berenson pleaded guilty Friday to a reduced charge of impaired driving as part of a plea agreement with the Ann Arbor city attorney's office. Two other charges of urinating in public and drunken driving were dropped for the plea, according to 15th District Court records. Berenson, 54, was arrested early Wednesday outside an Ann Arbor bar when a police officer saw him walking with difficulty and urinating on a wall of a library. Assistant Ann Arbor city attorney Tom Blessing said Berenson's plea was with city guidelines for first offenders. Berenson, who will be sentenced April 22, also agreed to perform 32 hours of community service and pay $100 in court costs. He faces a maximum of 90 days in jail and a $300 fine.
