Nice to see that UMaine students are still as adept as ever at putting
their foot in their mouth. I'd just like to say that not everyone up
here in the Pine Tree State sees things exactly as Brent does (of course,
not everyone agrees with me either, but isn't that what makes this
country so wonderful?)

Now to today's news. Not a lot on the hockey front. Its already been
reported that the Ferraro Twins will be back and playing this weekend
at UNH and BC.
The NCAA ruled yesterdaythat UMaine's proposal for 3 of the athletes,
which I posted yesterday, "would not be appropriate". Thats a quote
from acting NCAA compliance officer Bob Whelen in the Portland Press
Herald this morning. Patrice Tardif is still hoping to be able to add
the course which he dropped on Jan 31, there is no word on whether the
University and/or the NCAA would allow that.

There is no word in the paper, and none of the sportscasters on TV
mentioned it last night, but the Ferraros are giving up a full year of
eligibility to play this weekend. What if the NCAA comes out Friday
(That is the date they will make their final judgement, according to
the PPH) and says that Maine can't play in the NCAA's, and HE follows
suit and bars them from the HE tournament? Would the Ferraros (and
possibly Kariya) be willing to give up a year of eligibility to play
in two games? Would Walsh want them to give that up? It was announced
yesterday that Chris Imes is passing up this weekend and saving his final
year of eligibility until next season. Perhaps the Ferraros would rather

take that route. Of course the situations are different, since Imes has
only one season remaining, and the Ferraros have three.

For the record, Paul Kariya is expected to announce his decision tomorrow.
(If I were a betting man I'd put money on him being dressed Maine colors)

Thats the news for now...refreshingly little today :->
