A great game for the BG defense. I count two quality scoring chances (both in the first period) for Ferris as I look at the shot charts. Bob Petrie was fine in goal for BG; never out of position; no fat rebounds. Craig (not Todd) Lisko was very good for FSU. He can not be faulted for either goal he gave up. The first was on a mad scramble in front of him. He made the first save but a crowd of bodies pushed him aside and defenseman Todd Reirden found the open net. On the second, Tom Glantz roared toward the net along the goal line. He penetrated all of the way into the crease, where his shot hit a defenseman's stick and deflected straight up into the net. Ferris looked awful on the power play. They iced it several times. The shots were even at 2 per team during FSU's man advantages. Mike Kolenda had 5 of the Bulldogs' 16 shots on goal. Kevin Lune again was a great forechecker for BG. Star D John Gruden did not look good for Ferris. He was checked hard into the boards in the first period and got up slowly. After that he was very tentative, favoring his shoulder, and unable to do anything with his backhand. You know he was hurt badly because he was not on the ice at the end of the game when the Bulldogs were trying to get a goal. The last time BG won a play-off game at home was 1990. Ironically, the last time BG shut out an opponent in the post-season was at home vs. Ferris in the first round of the 1987 play-offs. Keith PS A very well reffed game by the Shegos brothers. ===================================================================== Ferris State at Bowling Green, Friday, March 11, 1994 CCHA First Round Ferris State (13-23-1; 0-1) 0 0 0 0 Bowling Green (18-16-2; 1-0) 1 0 2 3 Scoring 1-BG Reirdern 7 (Clark, Fry) 8:43 3-BG Glantz 8 (Lune) 9:50 3-BG Pronger 17 (unassisted) ENG 19:46 Goalies Lisko, FS 5- 9-11--25 (58:09/2) Petrie, BG 7- 5- 4--16 (60:00/0) Penalties: FS 2/4 BG 4/8 Power Plays: FS 0/4 BG 0/2 Refs: Shegos and Shegos Line: Kelly Att: 1442
