The game Walt Olson is referring to is Game 2 of the North Dakota-Denver series last Saturday in Denver. North Dakota had lost Game 1 by a 3-1 score and, after taking an early 2-0 lead in the second game, had been tied by the Pioneers, 2-2, on a goal at 14:33 of the second period. UND's Landon Wilson was called for a minor penalty at 17:13 of the second period and was assessed another minor a few moments later and was escorted off the ice by one of the referees. While this was happening, the teams began to change lines. A Denver player ran, cross-checked, bumped, checked-from-behind, slashed or love-tapped North Dakota captain Brad Bombardir (it all depends who you ask) causing the Sioux bench to pour onto the ice. The fighting eventually wound up in front of the Pioneers bench. Six players -- three from each team -- were given game DQs (yes, one of the DU players given a DQ had left the game in the first period with an injury and was in the training room when his DQ was assessed). Denver went on to win the game 5-2. For the game, the Sioux had 18 penalties for 69 minutes and Denver 14 for 61. (In the WCHA, a fighting penalty is worth five minutes and a DQ is worth 10 minutes). All in all, a very unfortunate incident. Justin
