At 2 minutes into the game, a falcon was called for an absolutely bogus penalty and Alaska Fairbanks converted for a 1-0 lead. The Falcon Faithful feared it would be another long night. This was amplified when the falcons did little with their first two manpower surpluses. However on the fourth power play of the game, defenseman Dan Leone evened the score with a slap shot rom about halfway between the blue line and the top of the right circle. The shorthanded goal came about midway in the period. With about 2 minutes left, Air Force scored again on a 5 on 3 advantage to take a 2 - 1 lead into the first intermission. There was no further scoring, though both teams had several golden opportunities, but both lacked the eptness to convert the opportunities. The falcons outshot the nanooks by about 40-15, with most of the fairbanks shots coming in the latter stages of the third when the falcons stopped playing aggressively and retreated into a shell. However, in the last two minutes, they went back to their aggressive style of forechecking and fairbanks couldn't get their goalie off for an extra skater at the end. charlie shub [log in to unmask] -or- cdash@colospgs (BITNET) (719) 593 3492 (fax) 593-3369
