Apparantly somewhere along the line I missed the list rule that required all to register an opinion on the Walsh situation. :-) Well, here's mine: If Coach Walsh sent the extra player out to break up a developing breakaway then he is truly amazing. There is no way that he could have made that decision, communicated it to his player and had the player carry it out in the time allotted him by BU. As for the extra man with the stoppage of play, if he purposely put him out there, isn't he depending on the inability of HE refs to count to 5. All he had to gain by putting him out there, assuming they did they did their jobs was an extra penalty for delay of game and a 2-man dis- advantage for the last 4 seconds. Any coach that can predict a referees mistake (unless the ref is Piotrowski) is surely a psychic individual. As for Brian Zive's conviction of Walsh based on his rapid exit, did it ever occur to you that he may have been in a hurry to get out of there because of the rain of debris that apparently was coming down? A guy could get hurt out there. Let's give Coach Walsh the benefit of the doubt for once. I know that he has been very successful and that it must be frustrating for fans of other Eastern schools, but give him a break. If your only source of hockey news was hockey-l, you'd think that the man was some type of ogre. (Apologies to Tony) Other opinions quickly. Bring back 4 on 4 and 3 on 3. Institute a shoot- out after 10 minute OT, awarding 2 to winner and 1 to loser. Force MSU to learn how to play after a big win over Michigan. 2 bad performances after two wins. --Steve Moerland MSU '92, UK '95
