Position Announcement COMMISSIONER WESTERN COLLEGIATE HOCKEY ASSOCIATION Position: The Commissioner of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association is appointed annually. The appointment is recommended by the Directors of Athletics, serving as a Committee of the whole, and subsequently approved by the Faculty Representatives. The person serves at the pleasure of the Association and has specific delegated responsibilities and authority as defined in the Association's Articles of Agreement and Code of Regulations; the Annual Meeting minutes; Committee actions and the normal dictates of conducting the business of a conference office. Duties: * Responsible for the conduct of all business of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. * Responsible for supervision and production of all WCHA employees. * Serves as the Association's primary liaison with other ice hockey organizations such as: National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA); College Hockey Association (CHA); Ice Hockey Commissioner's Association; NCAA Ice Hockey Championship Committee; NCAA Ice Hockey Rules Committee; American Hockey Coaches Association; Hockey USA. * Serves as the Association enforcement officer, and as such, investigates any alleged violations of NCAA or WCHA rules and regulations as may be directed by the Executive Committee. * Serves as a member, ex-officio member, or advisor on all standing Association Committees. * Serves as the permanent Chair of the Association Tournament Committee. * Responsible to administer the budget of the WCHA. * Coordinator of game scheduling and WCHA tournaments. * Responsible for the marketing and promotion of the WCHA and to maintain good working relationships with all segments of the media and corporate sponsors. * Responsible for interpretation of and implementation of NCAA Compliance and Eligibility Regulations. * Responsible for the supervision of WCHA Officials. Qualifications: The WCHA is seeking candidates who possess leadership ability and vision to represent the Association in a manner consistent with the educational and competitive goals of the ten institutions, the WCHA as an organization and the NCAA. Baccalaureate degree (Master preferred). Hockey experience in management and public relations with strong interpersonal, communication and administrative skills; knowledge of ice hockey organizations; three years successful college and/or conference experience; knowledge of NCAA regulations; commitment to intercollegiate athletics, academic excellence and integrity. The WCHA: The Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) is a ten member association. Member institutions are: Alaska-Anchorage, Colorado College, University of Denver, Michigan Tech University, University of Minnesota, University of Minnesota-Duluth, University of North Dakota, Northern Michigan University, St. Cloud State University, and University of Wisconsin.
