Newsday has a brief cut on the subject today indicating that Taylor advised
Chris that Darby Hendrickson had edged him out for the last spot on the roster.
Ferraro elected to accompany the team to France for a tournament. The article
added that Ferraro could still make the team if Hendrickson faltered, or Ted
Drury fails to recover from his knee injury.

Which of course brings up a great subject for conjecture: what does Chris do
now? IMHO Ferraro should figure out that he hasn't developed sufficiently for
the NHL, and that a return to Maine would be in his best interest. With
the Rangers signing Todd Marchant, who is having an excellent stint with the
Olympic Team, the situation at the NHL club is even more crowded. Peter will
undoubtedly sign with the Rangers after Lillehammer, and neither Marchant nor
Peter will likely see much ice time with the parent club in the near future.
The Rangers are extremely deep, and the best that Peter or Marchant can
hope for would be a late call-up to give the club a boost into the playoffs.

Chris undoubtedly wants to stick with his brother, but I think that he should
re-assess his situation and forego the pros for now. In fact he'd be better
off returning to the Black Bears right now, instead of wasting his time in
France. Chris needs to develop, if he has any chance of catching on with the
pros.
