Merrimack defenseman Dan Hodge was named Hockey East Player of the
Week. Hodge, a junior from Lynnfield, MA, had a goal and two assists
Saturday night in Merrimack's 6-3 win over New Hampshire. He added an
assist Friday night in a 6-3 loss to UNH. He also had another goal
Saturday called off due to a teammate being in the crease.

Hodge is the son of former Bruin and New York Ranger Ken Hodge Sr, as
well as the brother of former Bruin Ken Hodge Jr. He has 7-12--19 in
19 games, putting him at least among the leading scoring defensemen in
HE if not at the top.

Nice to see defensemen get some recognition. Of course, it seems to
have come about because of his offensive output, but Hodge did play
well defensively last weekend, too. I do not think he was on the ice
for an even strength goal against in either game. When he came in, he
was known for his offense, but I think that this season he has
tremendously improved defensively to the point that he is probably one of
the best all-around Ds in HE - and a serious candidate for All-Hockey East.

No details on who the Rookie of the Week was, or on the players who made
the Honor Roll.
