Actually, I can tell you that at Northeastern, there are cases where players are not in school during the season. Because of co-op, students sometimes work in the fall and/or winter, which run from Oct-Dec and Jan-March. Since co-op is considered a part of the education at Northeastern (and, increasingly, other schools), a player taking part in co-op is considered to be making satisfactory progress towards a degree and so can play. That is, presuming he (or she) was maintaining good academic progress as well. However, since it isn't the easiest thing to work an 8+ hour a day job and make it to practices & games daily, especially since some co-op jobs take students all over the world, it is also not unusual for hockey players to schedule their co-op (usually 2 of 4 quarters a year) in the off season. That would be Spring & Summer - April-June and July-September. So most players, from my experience, are actually in school during the season, but there were a few with local co-op jobs who did work during the season. - mike, manager, Northeastern, 1988 Beanpot & Hockey East champs :-) --- --- Mike Machnik [log in to unmask] Cabletron Systems, Inc. *HMM* 11/13/93 <<<<<< Color Voice of the (9-9-1) Merrimack Warriors WCCM 800 AM >>>>>>
