Versus River Falls - 12/5 ------------------------- In the second game last weekend the C team played much better against the defending champions from River Falls. We got out to a 2-0 lead but that was cut to 2-1 by the end of the first period. During the second period River Falls tied the game and it remained tied until around the 5 minute to go mark in the third. At that point, Wisconsin nearly converted to gain the lead, but it was ruled no goal and in retrospect it was hard to tell from the tape whether the puck crossed the line or not (however, the camera was on the other end of the ice). Shortly after that River Falls was able to take the lead. They then added one more goal to come away with a 4-2 victory, but we felt much better about our level of play than after the 7-1 thrashing the night before. Versus Valley Girls - 12/10 --------------------------- This was a game of strange things happening off of the ice before we even got to skate. We had three vans going to the game, and only about 20 minutes outside of town the van I was in hit a deer causing the van to be undrivable. Thankfully no one was hurt, and we were ablr to get another van from the school and get back on the road. We were also able to get in touch with the team and inform them of the situation and were told they would try to delay the start. We finally arrived, and the game had started, since they decided that since there were enough skaters they would play. Some of the latecomers dressed quickly (since they had been put on the game roster already) and were able to play part of the second period and all of the third. I personaly wound up wearing someone else's gear, since she had no choice but to wear mine since we were in different vans than our stuff. The worst part of course was the skates, but what are you going to do? We won the game 8-0 and credited the first goal by a woman from the late van to be for the deer. What a night. Versus St. Cloud State - 12/11 ------------------------------ We actually all made it to this game on time, after having the day to play in the cities, a nice break from studies (at least for those of us who didn't go to the library). We played a tough game and had the puck in our zone a lot, but just couldn't convert. It was very frustrating, and we wound up losing 3-0. We are 2-4-1 now for the season, which gives us more wins than at the end of last year. Inexperienced Team ------------------ The inexperienced team did not play this past weekend, and also lost the second game of their series the previous weekend. Wendy Istvanick Go Badgers!!!
