Everyone else but Maine finishes this weekend, with Maine hosting Ferris for a pair the following weekend. Prior to this past weekend, Maine's Paul Kariya (9 GP; 7-13--20) and Merrimack's Matt Adams (12 GP; 8-12--20) and Rob Atkinson (12 GP; 7-13--20) were the leading overall scorers in HE by point totals. Kariya led in points per game, though, with 2.22. Mass Lowell freshman Greg Bullock was the leading goal scorer with 9 in 9 games. Bullock had 9-9--18 and his 2.00 ppg was third in HE. Northeastern's Mike Taylor led in assists with 14 in 8 games. Leading dufflebag was Blair Allison of Maine, with a 2.51 GAA in 6 games (5-1-0). Todd Reynolds of Northeastern has clearly returned to his form of a couple of years ago after work with 1980 Olympian Jim Craig. Reynolds has bounced back from an injury that had him out virtually all of last season, and his .915 save % is tops in HE (5 GP; 5-0-0; 3.03 GAA). Mass Lowell's specialty teams were the talk of HE as the Chiefs rank #1 in power play (35.0% HE, 32.6% overall) and penalty killing (94.7% HE; 94.6% overall). Uncharacteristically, Providence is second-last in PP and last in PK. HE honors last week (Nov 29, 1993)... PLAYER OF THE WEEK Ryan Haggerty, Jr F, BC. Haggerty had 2-1--3 vs Dartmouth and 1-2--3 vs Army for a six-point week. Mike Prendergast, Jr F, BU. Prendergast had an assist in BU's win at Cornell and 2-1--3 in the Terriers' win vs Princeton. ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Greg Taylor, G, BC. Taylor allowed two goals in BC's 9-2 win over Dartmouth and shut out Army 9-0, his first collegiate shutout. John Jakopin, D, Merrimack. Jakopin was named MVP of the National Capital Tournament in Ottawa which was won by the Warriors with wins over Western Onatrio and Ottawa. --- --- Mike Machnik [log in to unmask] Cabletron Systems, Inc. *HMM* 11/13/93 <<<<<< Color Voice of the (6-7-1) Merrimack Warriors WCCM 800 AM >>>>>>
