Ben's story about the football player points out a central problem with college atheletics, IMHO. For a football player in high school who wants too keep playing what options are there? How about for a player who has designs on a pro career? It is an unfortunate fact of life that NCAA football is the only minor league feeder system for the NFL. The football player who hates school and is only there to play ball is not an aberation. There are plenty more around (a top player at UW decided to return for his senior year of football despite his dislike of school this past week). I am glad that hockey haas feeder leagues such as Junior A & B leagues and minor league pros. At the very least it gives hockey players a choice. Hopefully, in return, we get players who want to be in colleg e. Idealistically, --mg
