The Tigers are a good team -- and they play very hard. Wisconsin
got goals from 6 players and great goaltending from Jim Carey to
win an important home game.

Summary from memory:

1 - 1 after 1. Wisconsin scored on a delayed penalty call (but didn't
get Carey off the ice on the play), and CC tied it on a short-hander.
Wisconsin played well at times, but not so well other times. CC did a
really good job messing up the Badger breakout.

About 5 minutes into the second period, Wisconsin's Mike Doers was
called for butt-ending, and given the 5 minute major and game DQ. The
incident was behind the play and up against the boards. I didn't see it
at all. The refs seemed very confused -- it took them about a minutes
after blowing the whistle to decide what to do. Of course, the crowd
was not happy with the call. Coach Sauer said later that it was a tough
call to make, and he doesn't know until he sees the tapes. He didn't
sound too upset about it, nor did he visibly argue to call (although he
did discuss it with the ref).

Less than 1 minute into the major penalty, co-captain Mark Strobel made
a good play near the CC blue line, fed the puck to co-captain Rob
Granato, who scored the shorthander, breaking open a tie game (It may
have been 2-2 at that point, but I don't remember).

The short-hander turned the momentum to Wisconsin, and they killed the
major penalty. In the middle of the penalty, the ref decided he liked
the sound of his whistle, calling a bunch of penalties -- matching
minors, then another a minor on CC, and then one on the Badgers (I
think I got that right -- I don't have the box to check it with...).
Wisconsin managed to kill it all off, including a stretch of 5-3.

Eventually Wisconsin led 6-2, and CC got one more late in the game to
make the final 6-3.

Power play: Wisconsin 2-4, CC 1-8.

I expect a hard fought game and tomorrow, but if the Badgers play
as well as they did at their best tonight, they should win it.
