Perhaps someone could enlighten me.  Do the Alaska teams reimburse their
opponents for shlepping all the way up to the the Great White North?  Somehow
I thought at one time that was the case-- as an inducement to get teams to
schedule games on their home turf UAA and UAF would pay the travel expenses.
Perhaps the CCHA and WCHA affiliation agreements changed this practice?
Frankly I can't imagine how the presidents of the Western schools permit their
hockey programs to spend all that money for travel to Alaska.  I could never
see an ECAC president agreeing to such scheduling.  Not that I don't admire the
tenacity of those Alaska teams, especially in putting up with those
incredible road trips and the strain it must place on their academics.
