It was certainly cold here in Colorado Springs today, as it snowed for most of the day, making the roads icy for the trip to the Broadmoor tonight. A good crowd did show up for the game though. The first period was well played with few penalties, and each team had scoring opportunities but no one could put it in as both Bach and Ram made great saves. At 7:29 of the second period, Michigan Tech broke the scoreless tie and two minutes later made it 2-0 Tech. A minute and a half after that, CC got one back to end the period 2-1 Tech. 47 seconds into the third, Tech scored their third goal to take a two goal lead again. CC later scored another one, closing the gap to 3-2. From about the middle of the third period on, tempers began to flare on both sides as numerous penalties began to be called, including two majors. With 2:29 left in the game, CC evened the score to send it into overtime. Both teams had some good opportunities in overtime, but the goaltenders made the saves to keep the score at a tie. Both goalies played quite well, and I think everyone here could really appreciate why Jamie Ram is an All-American, as he made some incredible saves throughout the game and made the Tigers work hard for every goal they scored. The Tigers still have first place by two points, but with Tech and Wisconsin tied right behind them, the race for first is still on tomorrow night.
