In today's column in the Capital Times, Mike Lucas reports the following tidbits (without his embellishments): Brad Buetow, former Colorado College coach is playing professional roller hockey in Miami. Ralph Backstrom, former Denver head coach, is commissioner of the roller hockey league. Wisconsin defenseman Ulvis Katlaps has been granted a second (and final) year of eligibility (he is 26, from Latvia, and couldn't take the SAT to meet the NCAA's original deadline because he couldn't get permission from the then-soviet officials to travel to Moscow to take the exam). However, there are rumors that he is going into business in Latvia instead. Wisconsin senior-to-be Dan Plante will reportedly get an offer from the NY Islanders before the season starts. --david -------- david parter [log in to unmask] university of wisconsin -- madison voice: 608-262-0608/262-2389 computer sciences department fax: 608-262-9777
